The Inter-American Foundation (IAF) congratulates Maria Lis Baiocchi, a 2016-2017 IAF Fellow in our Grassroots Development PhD Fellowship Program. She recently received a Woodrow Wilson Dissertation Fellowship Award. Ms. Baiocchi, at the University of Pittsburgh in anthropology, will be finishing her dissertation entitled Becoming Workers: Changing Labor Laws and Domestic Workers' Challenges in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The $5,000 award will cover expenses such as travel, data work/collection, and supplies connected with completing her dissertation.

IAF’s Grassroots Development Fellowship Program supports dissertation research in Latin America and the Caribbean undertaken by U.S. university students who have advanced to Ph.D. candidacy in the social sciences, physical sciences, technical fields and professions related to grassroots development issues. The IAF Fellowship Program complements our support for grassroots development projects in Latin America and the Caribbean.
